Frequently Asked Questions.....

  1. Why should I use a Recruiter in my job search?

Answer: A Professional Recruiter will greatly improve your job search. With the help of a recruiter who specializes in your chosen field, you will be given an opportunity to "pick and choose" the companies and positions that most closely meet your career goals. At PSRi, we take time to discuss your needs, your goals, your likes and dislikes. Based on the information, we can evaluate our openings and present only those you will be interested in. You have the option to go on the interview or decline. Your recruiter will also see you through to the end, assisting with reference checking, salary negotiations and giving your notice. We will work with you each step of the way...until you get the new job you deserve!

  2. How long does it typically take to find a job?

Answer: That is a tough one! The time it takes to find a new position depends on a few factors including your skills, the demand for those skills, your availability to interview and your motivation to make a change (i.e: whether you are currently working or not!). Most of the people we represent are currently working and looking for a better opportunity. This is an ideal situation because you can take the time you need to make sure the position is right. If, however, you are suddenly faced with a more urgent situation such as a layoff, corporate relocation, etc. you will need a recruiter with immediate access to open positions. At PSRi, we can handle either situation very well...just let us know!

  3. What skills are most in demand?

Answer: The skills sets that are in the highest demand by our clients are:
For Development: VC++, OLECom, ActiveX, Java, VB, Delphi
For Databases: Oracle, SQL-Server, Access, Informix, Object Databases
For Networks: NT is very hot! Lots of DataCom and of course, Novell
For Applications: SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle Financials, etc.
For O/S: NT and most varieties of Unix.

We are seeing an increase in Development, Systems Administration, Quality Assurance, Network Administration and Engineering, Internet Development and Technical Support! Overall , the market for Information Technology Professionals is excellent. According to the Labor Department, the demand will continue to grow at a rate of 20% per year into the year 2020!

  4. What kind of Testing may I expect?

Depending on the position and the company, a variety of tests may be given during the interview process. You may be given a test for specific technical skills(fairly common), a psychological profile(less common), a personality profile(less common) and/or drug testing(very common). In addition to these tests, many companies are now conducting background investigations that may include Reference, DMV and Credit Checks as well as verification of degrees. Your recruiter at PSRi has taken the time to find out each company's interview process and will share that with you.
